Bio
Jorge works in °ÄÃŻʹÚÌåÓý, D.C., for the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. In the Special Litigation Section, he enforces the civil rights of persons interacting with law enforcement and of persons with disabilities to live and work in their communities instead of institutional settings. He previously worked at the Division’s Voting Rights Section, enforcing citizens’ right to register and vote, including access to bilingual assistance and the provision of ballots for overseas military voters. Before the DOJ, Jorge worked in Los Angeles, CA, for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund. MALDEF is a Latinx-focused impact litigation non-profit, and Jorge’s docket included matters related to immigrants’ rights, college access, and labor. Jorge began his legal career in New York, NY, at the firm Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson. His docket consisted of contract disputes, shareholder litigation, regulatory work, and pro bono matters. Jorge graduated from NYU Law °ÄÃŻʹÚand °ÄÃŻʹÚÌåÓý University in St. Louis. Jorge is supported by an amazing spouse and two often amazing kids.
