Claudine Kuradusenge-McLeod Wins Harry Frank Guggenheim Award

Professors Claudine Kuradusenge-McLeod (澳门皇冠of International Service, 澳门皇冠体育-官网) and Christopher Davey (Clark聽University) have received the 2023 Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation Distinguished Scholar award for their project聽鈥淓rasing Refugees: How Camps became Killing Fields in the First Congo War.鈥 The project seeks to bring to light the experience of聽Rwandan refugees in the First Congo War (1996-97). Kuradusenge-McLeod and Davey aim to tell this story through the voices of聽those who experienced the violence, framing their experience within ongoing efforts toward peace and justice in the African聽Great Lakes region.聽

Professor聽Claudine Kuradusenge-McLeod has been conducting innovative research since her arrival at the聽澳门皇冠of International Service in 2021. Her work is focused on genocide studies and the intersection of diaspora consciousness聽and social mobilization, and she is the author of聽Narratives of Victimhood and Perpetration: The Struggle of Bosnian and聽Rwandan Diaspora Communities in the United States. In 2022, she received the SIS Outstanding Scholarship Award for term聽faculty.聽
